Jonathan co-founded Robson Kay with his father David in March 1996, having previously worked in fund management from when he first left school to ultimately becoming the group investment manager of Morfitt & Turnbull (Management Services), the financial management subsidiary of a large national PLC.
An accomplished public speaker, Jonathan Kay is Robson Kay’s principal auctioneer although with the advent of online auctions, the only time he now gets on the rostrum is when helping out in an honorary capacity with charity auctions for a variety of good causes.
Jonathan is a Member of NAVA Propertymark (the National Association of Valuers and Auctioneers) and a Member of R3, the Association of Business Recovery Professionals.
Jonathan is Robson Kay’s other principal case handler. Areas of expertise include plant and machinery, financial services, IT and high tech related businesses and intangible assets.
Jonathan is a particularly enthusiastic home cook and a keen skier. He loves all things motorsport and is a regular visitor to France for the 24 hour race in Le Mans. Closer to home, he has been a season ticket holder at Manchester City for more than 30 years, which is why he prefers to forget that the family dog Robson, whom the business was named after, was actually named by his younger brother after Brian Robson, the Manchester United player! Like his father, Jonathan’s IQ was tested by MENSA and quite incredibly has the identical score of 156.
